REIKI (pronounced RAY KEY) two Japanese Kanji ,when translated into western dialect, mean Universal Life Force Energy or Spiritual (not religious) Energy.

What makes Reiki a special and unique healing system and separate from other healing modalities is the attunement process and the use of symbols.

The Reiki attunement process is passed in the form of the lineage tradition where the Reiki Master Teacher initiates a student making it possible for the Reiki student to effectively channel healing energy after taking the Reiki training class.

The symbols are the essence behind Reiki. They are ancient and sacred, they are like keys to unlock the potential, helping to raise the vibration of the energy being sent. In our Tibetan Usui lineage we teach 4 traditional symbols and non-traditional symbols they can be applied to a diverse range of applications or situations. Each symbol has its own unique purpose, intention and function. By practising and memorising each symbol you will understand their uses, each symbol has a different feel. They are also used in different combinations and can be used to send energy to someone in another place, city or country, or they can be used to cleanse a room, crystals and much more.

The System of Reiki is a Complementary, safe, vibrational / energy healing practice/therapy, that promotes balance in mind, body, and spirit. It is a painless, non- manipulative, non-invasive and does not interfere with any form of medical treatment.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is an ancient laying-on of hands healing technique that uses the universal life force energy to heal and balance the subtle energies within our bodies. This energy addresses our body on many levels – the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. Reiki is an intelligent energy and can be directed to areas of imbalance often giving the recipient insights as to the cause of the imbalance or to a behaviour they can address or change.

Reiki is a very high vibrational energy going to areas of the body that it is most needed for the highest good of the recipient, accelerating the body’s own natural healing ability. It cannot be harmful in any way.

Reiki has a positive healing effect on all forms of illness and negative conditions, it works in harmony with all other forms of allopathic medicine, including drugs, surgery, psychological care or any form of complimentary therapy.

Reiki is a very easy therapy to learn and as it has no religious connections or belief systems, it is available to everyone who may wish to learn it.  Courses are held throughout the year and more information can be found by clicking below.

What are the benefits of Reiki?

Reiki involves your body, mind and soul and aims to integrate all these aspects into a harmonious balance. Reiki supports your spiritual growth, enhances personal awareness and intuition, helping you tune into yourself so you can make better life choices or decisions.

Reiki is not just a treatment that addresses symptoms; instead it gives insight into the cause of unwellness and encourages healthy lifestyle changes. Reiki generates relaxation and reduces stress, allowing the body to heal from within.

Reiki will work in conjunction with any other treatment to help relieve side effects and will promote recovery from illness, accidents and surgery.

Because Reiki has a high vibrational frequency it can flow into, over, and through anything. This enables the Reiki energy to work holistically on the whole person breaking down blockages, clearing and balancing chakras or meridians to allow Universal Life Force energy to flow healthily.

With the Reiki system, another benefit is that you can learn to channel the universal life force energy yourself. Once you have acquired the ability to access Reiki through being attuned by a Reiki Master Teacher, you retain this ability for the rest of your life, and have the added benefit that you are not dependent on others for healing.

Benefits of Reiki

The History of Reiki

Reiki originated in Japan in the 1920’s when Dr Mikao Usui rediscovered a way of channelling healing energy. His quest to find healing energy led him to research, and learn ancient spirit-centred philosophies. Dr Usui achieved enlightenment on the final day of a 21 day fasting meditation on Mount Kurama where he was empowered with the knowledge for healing. Understanding of the spiritual nature of the Universal Life Force Energy he named it Rei-Ki.

It is believed Dr Usui was primarily a Buddhist although he studied many religious documents and systems. He continued his practice spending many years healing people in Japan before passing his teachings onto Dr Chujiro Hayashi a Japanese naval officer. After the passing of Mikao Usui, Dr Hayashi opened  Reiki clinics in Tokyo and Kyoto where clients were treated usually by two or more practitioners.

In 1935 Hawayo Takata travelled from Hawaii and found refuge for her illness in Dr Hayashi’s clinic. Being so impressed with her own healing she stayed on and lived with Dr Hayashi and his family whilst undertaking learning for levels one and two of Reiki.

Hawayo Takata returned to Hawaii opening her first clinic in in 1937 and a year later receiving her final level from Dr Hayashi. She continued her clinic in Hawaii and took Reiki to the USA and Canada where she trained people to use Reiki for themselves and adapted the teachings to suit Western needs. Teaching the different levels of Reiki in workshops over a few days rather than in a clinic for months. Hawayo Takata maintained Reiki was an oral tradition, students and teachers had to rely on their own memory, whereas today teachers commonly use written notes and manuals.

Reiki is very popular today and is taught worldwide in the lineage tradition which means the qualified teacher passes the empowerment through an attunement process to the student.  They in turn pass Reiki onto their own students and out of this many styles of Reiki have developed.
